New York โ Following a wildly successful Take-Two earnings call, Rockstar executives confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 is on track for a November 2026 delay announcement, moving the total to three official delays for the game. Sam Houser, Co-founder and President of Rockstar Games, verified the news earlier this week in a press release posted on the Rockstar website.
โWe know itโs been a long time coming and we appreciate everyoneโs patience, but with that being said, Rockstar Games is thrilled to confirm that our GTA 6 developers are on schedule to meet our delay announcement target of November 2026โ Houser wrote. โThis was only made possible with the support of our fans โ without you Rockstar wouldnโt have had anyone to string along for decades and torture with a constant cycle of setting release dates and then delaying those release dates and for that we are eternally grateful. In 1998, Rockstar was founded on the idea that nothing should be released on time and that promises are made to be broken. Well today, by all indications, it looks like Rockstar will once again be able to uphold that foundational idea.โ
Houser then went on to promise fans that this delay announcement is like nothing Rockstar has ever made before, saying that it even blows the second Red Dead Redemption 2 delay announcement out of the water.
โThey arenโt even comparable,โ Houser wrote proudly. โWe are going to use bubble letters, a neon pink font glow, and if weโre feeling really creative, a confetti screen effect. Our Red Dead Redemption 2 delay announcement had screenshots from the game but with GTA 6 we are going to include a text file of the entire coding script. Just a little something that is not playable whatsoever but lets our fans know that the game is 100% finished but will be getting delayed again simply because torturing our fanbase is the only way we can feel anything anymore.”
Terry Hutchinson, longtime fan of the GTA franchise, was at a loss for words when he found out about the latest delay.
โI donโt even know what to say right now,โ Hutchinson said. โIโve waited over 12 years for this delay announcement to come out, so I was elated when I found out that the date has been confirmed. Iโve already taken two weeks off work just to fully immerse myself in the announcement. I know I have to wait a little bit longer for it to be officially out, but the good news is Rockstar has released thirty four updates to GTA 5 Online this week which should hold me over until then.โ
At press time, Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, announced that the GTA 6 delay announcement has been delayed to allow the developers time to finish the delay announcement off with the level of polish GTA fans have come to expect.
