Resident Evil: Requiem has been out for a few months, and while gamers have dissected it thoroughly, its biggest mystery remains unsolved: who the hell is Leon S. Kennedy married to? Capcom refuses to shed any light on the situation. We’ve inquired with the developer every day for the last seven months, but they still won’t budge. A Capcom rep, who wished to remain anonymous for this piece, did give us a full list of Chris Redfield’s canonical divorces, on the terms that we stop emailing the developer every day. So, since my morning is freed up of writing emails, here’s everyone who has contributed to Chris Redfield’s divorced dad energy. 

Jill Valentine

This one might sound obvious at first – the Master of Unlocking did share the spotlight with Chris in the original Resident Evil, but this isn’t a cheap love story out of adversity. No, this was a marriage of convenience. You see, 1996 was a different time. Lavender Marriages were a thing, even in the 90s. Jill eventually traded up to a Boston Marriage.

Bouldy

You wouldn’t think this would work out, but this marriage lasted for many years. They couldn’t overcome being in two different game franchises though. Long distance relationships are a real uphill battle. 

Albert Wesker

Wesker is the reason this isn’t a top ten list. He and Chris have had many failed attempts at making things work over the years. The love-hate relationship is strong, even if the hate is strongest. But, no matter how much Wesker claims to despise Chris, they always end up back together.

The Other Albert Wesker

We don’t know why things didn’t work out between Chris and this Wesker. Maybe it was the kids from Wesker’s previous marriage, maybe it was the confusing situation with the clones, or maybe because that show only lasted one season. Who couldn’t love Lance Reddick though? 

This Guy

You know, the guy from Resident Evil 6. Chris’ co-op partner in that game. I want to say his name was Peter? Doesn’t matter, I guess. He’s dead. But we’ll always remember his final words: “Chris, I want a divorce.”
