IRVINE, Calif. — More characters are on the way to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, starting with Ryan Gosling’s Driver character from Drive (2011) along with his 1973 Chevrolet Malibu. 

“Race across sea, air, and East L.A. in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds! Warp through Travel Rings and assist in bank robberies in new dimensions. Build the ultimate vehicle to match your racing style, unlock gadgets to gain the upper hand, and threaten to smash the hands of your enemies with a hammer to bring home the win!” reads the Sega press release.

“I’m doing this one race and then I’m out. You understand?” The Driver mentions before two masked men jump into his backseat and multiple Cop Speeders take chase at the start of every race.

The palette swap option changes the scorpion on the back of the Driver’s jacket to Froggy from Sonic Adventure. The vehicle color can change to the blue car from 1999’s unrelated Driver game.

“After seeing the humongous amounts of money Fortnite rakes in, we decided to expand our roster with any driver one can think of that will get you to buy this game,” Sega of America CEO, Shuji Utsumi, announced in front of the cosplaying twinks at this year’s Anime Expo. “We believe there’s a real crossover between fans of this movie and Sonic fans. One is a group of perpetually melancholy people who yearn for connection and the other is a group who enjoy a film about the same type of guy. It’s a perfect merger that fans will love. While the renowned Kavinsky track “Nightcall” is absent from the DLC due to  licensing fees we didn’t want to pay, a knockoff track generated by A.I. is included, which no one should take issue with.” 

The Hollywood DLC package releases at the end of this month and also includes Paul Walker, Kaitlyn Jenner, and Matthew Broderick.
