CHICAGO โ Following a tumultuous release, Mixtapeโs player count has dwindled according to staunch Steam Charts analyst, Greg Humphrey. Yet, according to a new report from social media analyst, Fred Diggs, Humphreyโs Twitter follower count is even lower than that of the โdead gamesโ he analyzes on a daily basis.
โDead games, how about we talk about dead people,โ Diggs said in a one-on-one interview with the GG Tribune, while scrolling through Humphreyโs followers. โYou see here, he follows 3000 people but only has 80 followers. Looks like he was hoping follow-for-follow would pan out for him, but everyone who he followed took one look and decided that the click of a button was too high a cost to spend on Greg. Those who did click follow back look to mostly be bots and users who havenโt signed in since 2013, so we can only assume they are dead, or else they would surely have signed in by now to unfollow him.โ
Diggs speculates that there may be more people who are aware of Humphrey, but since IRL numbers are not shared with the public all we can do is assume.
โIโll be generous and put his offline followers at two, assuming he hasnโt driven one of his parents away,โ Diggs said as he combed through Humphreyโs high school yearbook in search of more connections. โIโm not saying this guy canโt take a look at Steam Charts and speculate, only an asshole would make that kind of statement. What I am saying is that we donโt listen to a guy who canโt convince passive social media asshats to click one button to keep tabs on what heโs talking about. If Greg truly knew what he was talking about, he’d have found his audience by now.โ
Humphrey spoke out against Diggs and his findings in a recent video.
โYou canโt base the quality of a person on the number of followers they have on social media,โ Humphrey said with tears in his eyes. โIf youโre limiting yourself to only people that have a big following on social media, youโre going to miss a lot of people who donโt have a big following on social media. I think itโs ridiculous this guy is digging through my X stats. Numbers mean nothing. A person should be judged by their actions. Also, Mixtape is a dead game. Iโm sorry I said it, it just is.โ
At press time Humphrey hosted his weekly Marathon watch, where he and his one viewer refreshed the Marathon Steam Charts, waiting to proclaim the gameโs death.
