BELLEVUE, Wash. โ€” Steam has announced a new feature for their big Summer Sale this month that will allow users to repurchase games already in their libraries at the same steeply discounted prices seen in 2011 Steam sales.

Longtime Steam users will fondly remember the heavy discounts seen for dozens of critically acclaimed games, and many PC gamers are already voicing their excitement for the chance to buy games they already own at a nostalgic bargain price.

โ€œThis is honestly Valveโ€™s best idea since that cute Steam delivery girl from a year or two ago,โ€ said user GamerGateTruther69 on the Steam subreddit. โ€œWhile I liked the opportunity to see a woman actually smile at me outside of playing HuniePop, this oneโ€™s a real gamechanger. You mean I can pay only $4 for Limbo, which has been sitting in my library at โ€™16 minutes playedโ€™ for well over a decade? Thatโ€™s a crazy good deal!โ€

Not everyone is satisfied with this feature, though. Some PC gamers have expressed disappointment that a different year wasnโ€™t chosen for this event that is not legally allowed to be called a โ€œsaleโ€.

โ€œ2011 definitely wouldnโ€™t have been my first choice to base the prices off of,โ€ wrote user SebastianIsBestBoyFightMe11 on X – the Everything App. โ€œ2015 would have been a way better year to use. Skyrim was like five bucks then, and Iโ€™ll never pass up a chance to pay for that game again. Plus that would have been the perfect opportunity to bring us back to the year before everything went to shit in 2016 with, you knowโ€ฆOverwatch.โ€

Despite these criticisms, however, Valve president Gabe Newell is confident that the idea will appeal to the majority of PC gamers.

โ€œWeโ€™re calling itโ€ฆโ€˜Steam Summer Rewind Rebuyโ€™,โ€ he told reporters between cigar puffs while wildly waving a cane on the deck of his $500 million yacht in an old-timey top hat. โ€œItโ€™s going to be big, I tell you, BIG! Gahahaha!โ€

At press time, sources state that Valve allegedly plans for this feature to be the first part of their cryptically titled โ€œPlease, for the love of God, PLEASE forget about the Steam Deck price increase and keep giving us money!โ€ marketing initiative.
