COPENHAGEN, Denmark — A former IO Interactive developer has revealed a substantial amount of sexual content was cut from the just released 007 First Light in order to maintain a Teen rating from the ESRB.

Hans Jorkensen, who previously worked as an animator at the Danish development studio, disclosed the decision during an appearance on the ‘Waifu World’ podcast last Friday.

“Management gutted First Light, absolutely ruined it. They compromised our team’s vision to get more sales. It was meant to be an ode to the franchise, all of the fan favorites were back for action: Octopussy, Holly Goodhead, Xenia Onatopp, Dr. Christmas Jones… but now they’re all gone. Over a thousand hours of my work was deleted! Do you have any idea how hard it is to animate 142 scenes one-handed?”

The clip was shared widely on X the Everything App, where a call to boycott the game quickly began to trend.

“If I can’t bang stupidly named Bond Girls then First Light is NON-BUYNARY!” tweeted user Goondoggle1488, “I was looking for an excuse to be mad about a new game, objectify women, and harass someone so this unsubstantiated story about censorship is the perfect opportunity to do all three! I bet ANITA SARKEESIAN forced them to remove the sex, she can’t keep getting away with this!”

Lækker Wienerbrød, game director at IO Interactive, addressed the growing controversy in an interview with IGN.

“First of all, we always intended for First Light to be appropriate for teenagers in line with the PG-13 rating of the 007 films. Secondly, we fired Jorkensen—or ‘The Jorker’ as he’s now referred to at the office—when we discovered he had spent two years making crude sex scenes using external assets instead of his actual job of designing user interface elements. Thirdly, none of Hans’ work has been deleted; we sent his hard drive to the local police after looking through the rest of his downloads folder.”

At press time, the Change.org petition “Free First Light” disabled its video signature feature after the sixth clip of a middle-aged man masturbating to Pussy Galore was uploaded.
