TOKYO โ Local anime side character Kotaro Kokumi recently sealed his own fate by being the first person to explain his powers to his opponent in a one-on-one duel to the death, per multiple reports.
โIt unfolded the way these things usually do,โ noted Eriya Yoshinari, mentor to the seriesโ main character and long-time master of Magika. โI warned Kotaro not to become too prideful, but he never listened. He began by telling his foe there was no way theyโd be able to escape from his ultimate technique, Houdiniโs Prison, and proceeded to break down the exact way it worked. Every minute detail was laid out so that his fellow combatant could glean the exact way to overcome and defeat it. Kotaro didnโt last much longer after that, Iโm sorry to say.โ
Series protagonist Ishii Hakugo offered his thoughts on his friend’s tragic end.
โIt was very sad, but also truly avoidable. As a general rule, you always want to go second when it comes to power explanations so that you can totally own your opponent by technique-mogging them. Once theyโve explained how their abilities work, thatโs when you tell them how your ability actually counters or negates theirs completely, driving them to total despair. And then you kill them in one hit. Thatโs how I win all my battles. It hasnโt failed me yet.โ
Kotaroโs killer, minor antagonist of the early arcs Baku Mishima, gave an official statement to reporters.
โAll of these young Magika students are all the same. They think they can overcome a true masterโฆfools. Once Kokumi told me that his Houdiniโs Prison technique would render me tied up in a tank full of sharks, I knew I had already won. Thatโs when I used my own ultimate technique, Kingdom of Ice, which immediately froze the water and the sharks completely. I relished in his disbelief before my ice spears finished the job. Now, once I know what Ishii Hakugoโs powers areโฆthere will be no stopping me.โ
At press time, another minor character was observed meticulously outlining how Mishima would never be able to defeat their Magika technique, thereby making the same fatal mistake.
