ROACHTOWN, Ill. – The substance that caused a mass evacuation at the annual Roachtown Super Smash Bros Melee Tournament appears to have been ordinary soap. The substance discovered at the convention center had been described as ‘a round white brick’ with an unusual smell by attendees.
Winston D. Scust, a tournament participant, was first to discover the bar of soap which had been left on top of one of the CRTs being used for the event.
“It was this little round thing with a bird stamped into it,” Scust recalled, “probably a calling card from a DEI group. They attack Gamers, you know. I’ve seen it.”
Another attendee noted a similar incident three years ago. Ralph Ustank said he attended the 2023 Melee Tournament when attendees were evacuated due to an alleged gas attack.
“The ‘officials’ claimed it was aerosol deodorant, but I used Axe Body Spray before, and it didn’t smell anything like that.”
Zack Hoyt, a livestreamer reacting to another livestreamer covering the event questions whether the white brick originally described as a ‘toxic substance’ was actually soap.
“Where’s the forensics? Where’s the chemical analysis?” Hoyt ranted,” and if that was really soap, why were all the first responders gagging and throwing up when they entered the convention center?”
At press time, the event had been postponed indefinitely due to another ‘chemical attack’ on a Pokémon tournament in the same venue.
