SAN FRANCISCO — Local homosexuals were hopeful for representation on the cover of the new cover of EA’s Madden NFL 27. However, they were upset that the bear was a small framed quarterback of the Chicago Bears named Caleb Williams and not a larger hairy gay man.

“I have been looking for representation in Madden for decades,” said Brick Hamilton, a San Francisco-based LGBT activist. “There are no openly gay athletes in the NFL. I accept that. However, I wanted to at least see Madden take creative liberties and maybe make a story mode about a sorta chubby and cuddly guy who knows how to be with a man. Madden put Peyton Hillis on the cover and he may as well be a fictional character.”

Lead designer of Madden 27, Dan Yates, understands the frustration of the gay community and hopes that they can do better going forward.

“Every year people will get angry about the cover athlete,” said Yates. “Packers fans will be angry it is a Bears athlete on the cover. Bears fans will be mad because they are reminded about the Chicago Bears being a football team that they root for. Cowboys fans will be mad because they do not watch football yet still believe they have a player with enough talent worthy of being on the cover. We know that Caleb Williams is not an elite player, nor a gay player, but he paints his nails and he gave the city of Chicago hope just to have it be completely taken away. Don’t worry though, we have tweaked the in-game systems to ensure he holds the ball for far too long and he makes idiotic hero ball passes.

Madden 27 cover athlete Caleb Williams is hoping to make everyone happy with his appearance on the cover of the popular video game franchise.

“I have heard the gay community loud and clear,” said Williams. “It’s time to bulk up and start kissing men. It’s time to eat a shit ton of Chicago dogs and give myself the beer belly and dad bod they desire. I want to fit in within the city of Chicago so I should match the average Illinois physique. Ben Roethlisberger was able to play QB as a fat man and I can emulate his on-field style while avoiding the off-field antics. Ben Johnson is a good enough coach that he might be able to switch our offensive scheme to accommodate a chunky hairy guy behind center. It might take several years drafting in the top five but this is the Chicago Bears, we will be drafting there anyway.”

At press time, Chicago-native Pope Leo is preparing to address the issue of a Bear being on the cover. Papal insiders believe his bigger issue has less to do with appeasing the gay community and more about demanding Madden fix franchise mode and to squash bugs that have been plaguing the series for many years.
